Project Profile: Police Facilities

Project Profile: Police Facilities

Police Department FacilitiesProject Background: The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is the primary law enforcement agency for the District of Columbia. The MPD has over 4,000 sworn and civilian members serving the city, which is divided into seven Police Districts that are housed in stations, with additional sub-stations for certain neighborhoods.  Modern and efficient facilities are vital to an effective public safety system. The District is therefore seeking private partners to design, build, finance, operate and maintain these MPD facilities.  Operational continuity during all phases of such projects is critical. There could be opportunities for private activity such as residential, commercial and retail uses, the revenue of which might be used to offset availability payments made by the District for this facility.

District Agencies:

  • Metropolitan Police Department (MPD)
  • Department of General Services (DGS)
