Project Profile: Fire and Emergency Medical Facilities

Project Profile: Fire and Emergency Medical Facilities

Fire and Emergency Medical FacilitiesProject Background: The mission of the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Service Department (FEMS) is to preserve life and promote health and safety through excellent pre-hospital treatment and transportation, fire prevention, fire suppression and rescue activities and homeland security awareness. Modern and efficient facilities to house the more than 1,800 uniformed and civilian personnel are critical to these life-saving functions.  The District is therefore seeking private partners to design, build, finance, operate and maintain these FEMS facilities. Operational continuity during all phases of such projects is critical. There could be opportunities for private activity such as residential, commercial and retail uses, the revenue of which might be used to offset availability payments made by the District for this facility.
